2025-2026 Internship Opportunities

DDEEA Events Intern

The events unit within the DDEEA is in charge of planning and executing large-scale events for students, staff, campus partners, and the Madison community. Events range from DDEEA Kickback, Diversity Forum, and DDEEA Graduation to many more exciting projects.

Would be expected to support with:

  •  Managing inventoryResponding to supplies requests
  • Prepping for events (nametags, registration, etc.) at small and large scale events
  • Brainstorming in icebreakers and collaborative events
  • Onsite set up when possible
  • More assignments as requested

OMAI/First Wave Intern

First Wave is a full-tuition, four-year scholarship program for students that are seniors in high school or freshmen in college that applying to the University of Wisconsin-Madison

*OMAI/FW  students are not permitted to apply for this position.

Would be expected to support with:

  • Coordinating events, including logistics, content preparation and more
  • Create visual media via Canva and other programs alike for public distribution (newsletters, promotional materials and social media)-
  • Maintaining program/office records
  • Provide administrative support to staff and students
  • Independent projects focused on developing identified short and long-term goals that aid in the success of OMAI/First Wave
  • Write and edit materials for emails, newsletter publications, and presentations
  • Supporting OMAI/First Wave events/showcases/scholar programming
  • Staffing the front desk and aiding in student success and staff support
  • Person of contact for campus partners coming into OMAI/First Wave office
  • Other duties as assigned

Data Analyst Intern- PEOPLE Program

The Precollege Enrichment Opportunity Program for Learning Excellence (PEOPLE) prepares Wisconsin students to succeed in college with an emphasis on enrollment at UW Madison. The program recruits students at the pre-college level (8th grade) in Madison and Milwaukee School districts. PEOPLE provides a support infrastructure dedicated to achieving the goals of college attainment and degree completion

Would be expected to support with:

  • Updating inventory management systems, including record-keeping and usage data
  • Collecting data for in-house tutoring resources and preparing reports to advocate for the efficacy of those programs. 
  • Writing summaries and communications on findings
  • Brainstorming for more efficiencies within the program

McNair Intern

The Ronald E. McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program supports eligible undergraduates in acquiring the knowledge, skills and capacities necessary to successfully navigate the rigors of Ph.D. studies through immersion in research and a variety of scholarly activities.

*McNair Students are not permitted to apply for this position.

Would be expected to support with:

  • Update and distribute program bulletin (Canvas; e.g., research conferences, graduate visitation, funding opportunities, campus and scholarly resources, scholarships, etc.)
  • Produce a bi-/annual newsletter highlighting the program and its scholars’ achievements and involvement.
  • Create promotional materials (postcards, social media campaigns, flyers, graduation and other event programming, etc.) for McNair, Challenger Series, and BADGER Series programs.
  • Manage social media pages (Instagram, LinkedIn) for the McNair Scholars Program.
  • Restock and office materials and upkeep the space, as needed. (e.g., printing, stocking supplies, sanitizing surfaces, etc.)
  • Create and analyze data reports from surveys on current and former scholar activities.
  • Ability and willingness to work with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Canvas (administrative role), Canva, Qualtrics, WordPress, and social media channels (Instagram & LinkedIn)

Student Support Intern- CeO

The Center for Educational Opportunity (CeO) provides services for students that are first generation, meet certain federal family income guidelines, and students with documented disabilities. CeO advisors and staff embrace a personal approach and provide support in every aspect of the student’s path to achievement and success.

Would be expected to support with:

The CeO grant and fundraising committee will work closely with the intern on fundraising projects aligned with our mission and values, which focus on supporting our scholars on campus through personal and direct grassroots efforts. This internship will allow the team to develop and achieve fundraising goals for: 

  • CeO SFS summer orientation programs
  • Alternate Spring Break at Promega event
  • Semesterly student support events
  • Alumni outreach and engagement

NDGNS Intern

Network for Development & Growth of Indigenous Scholars at UW–Madison (NDGNS UW) — a four-year program. 

Would be expected to support with:

  • Maintaining our Canvas page where we post frequent announcements about events and resources that are relevant to NDGNS UW and Indigenous scholars.
  • Office administrative tasks that can vary throughout the year
  • Assisting with office hours to keep our office open and available to students, which is an opportunity for the intern to also interact with our scholars directly.

Communications Intern-CeO

The Center for Educational Opportunity (CeO) provides services for students that are first generation, meet certain federal family income guidelines, and students with documented disabilities.

Would be expected to support with:

  • Creating content (flyers, presentations, story posts, etc)
  • Posting on social media (including Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn and LinkTree)
  • Create weekly email to be sent to all CeO scholars
  • Create advertising and supplemental materials for CeO and campus events as requested
  • Work alongside the CeO Team to promote the mission of the office

MJLSP Intern

*MJLSP Students are not permitted to apply for this position.

The Mercile J. Lee Scholars Program (MJLSP) serves over 500 high-achieving undergraduate students. With a philosophy of “Excellence in Scholarship, Leadership and Service”, the program is at the forefront of providing intensive and consistent levels of direct support to talented students who as a cohort are admitted to UW–Madison. Since its creation in the early 1980s (originally named Chancellor’s and Power-Knapp scholarship), the MJLSP has established itself as the premier scholarship program on campus.

Would be expected to support with:

  • Coordinating events, including logistics, content preparation and more (graduation, orientation, etc)
  • Assist with auditing budget spreadsheets for discrepancies (via Excel)
  • Updating program calendars and other sources of information for current scholars
  • Researching high schools, conferences, and areas of interest to promote the MJLS program
  • Independent projects focused on developing identified short and long-term goals that aid in the success of the MJLSP
  • Send correspondence to program donors and keep record of those correspondences (via Word)
  • Assist with data entry and tracking scholar participation in required events (via Excel and Top Hat)
  • Work at the reception desk greeting Scholars and other visitors to our office (customer service and communications)
  • Other duties as assigned
